about

This September sees the release of we_ctrl’s second EP, Benedict’s ‘we_ctrl [2]’, backed with a remix from French producer Fulbert.

This release follows the outstanding debut ‘we_ctrl001’ which gained support from the likes of Kerri Chandler, DJ Deep, Brothers Vibe and Jimpster. Co-founder of we_ctrl Benedict takes the reins here, delivering his fresh outlook on contemporary deep house that’s seen works of his find their way onto imprints such as Hudd Traxx, Freerange, Surface and Urban Torque.

‘Why Don’t You Finish With Me’ opens the release, encapsulating the spirit of classic deep house with an impressive attention to detail and insistent percussive movement. The flow steadily evolves, forever alluring your senses with baroque structural changes.

French artist Fulbert offers up a rework of ‘Why Don’t You Finish With Me’ opting for a deeper, spaced out feel with soft piano stabbing chords and hi-pitched string melodies that evoke a modern take on New-Jersey house vibes.

Next up ‘Problem With My Snuffbox’, applies a deep organic bass hook, sweeping synth shots and effortlessly shuffling drum programming that maintains captivation for the listener throughout.

Closing the release we have ‘Sequincing’, low-slung and spacey, the vibe is loop centric with minute subtleties in automation painting the bigger picture for its duration where refined reverb tails and filter
modulations create a beautifully flowing dynamism.

we_ctrl are off to a rolling start and with label partner Tomson set for the next release and Wolf Music’s Medlar confirmed on remix duties, its clear we_ctrl have their finger on the pulse when it comes to quality not trends.

Benedicts ‘we_ctrl [2]’ is out on we_ctrl 10th September 2012.
